How Our Helpline Works
When you contact us, we listen to what is going on and ask a few simple questions about your situation, such as the substance involved, how long the problem has continued, and whether you have tried treatment before. We then explain the kinds of programs that may fit, such as outpatient counseling, intensive outpatient care, or residential treatment, and describe what each generally involves. We can search public treatment directories, including the California Department of Health Care Services treatment facility list and the federal treatment locator at findtreatment.gov, to find programs in your area that accept new patients.
We do not provide medical advice, diagnose conditions, or recommend one specific program over another. The choice of treatment always stays with you. If you are in immediate danger or someone is experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
